Next Level Training: Rising from the Flames
Leadership & Resilience During a Crisis
Dealing with crises is a reality for many rental housing professionals and it is important to prepare for how you will respond.
In 2022 Alexis Melton was a supervisor for a property management company when a fire broke out at one of her apartment communities damaging an entire building with 24 apartment homes and displacing nearly 50 residents.
In this moment of crisis, Alexis experienced first-hand the weight of responsibility for helping her residents, leading her staff, and being the face of her apartment community and management company. While she had trained for and thought about how she should respond during a crisis, she wasn't prepared for the reality of the experience.
During this Next Level Training, Alexis will share her real-world experience managing an apartment fire and the lessons she learned. Through a blend of storytelling and practical leadership insights, Alexis will highlight how to lead effectively during crises by staying calm, communicating clearly, and supporting teams through challenging situations. Attendees will gain actionable strategies to foster resilience and turn crises into opportunities for growth, both personally and within their organizations.
Key Points:
- Leading with Calm and Clarity in Chaos: Staying composed under pressure, making quick decisions, and maintaining transparent communication to build trust during a crisis.
- Empathetic Leadership in Crisis: Balancing practical decision-making with emotional support for your team, ensuring they feel valued and empowered to handle adversity.
- Resilience and Recovery: Managing the long-term recovery process while turning setbacks into opportunities for growth, both as a leader and for your organization.
